About the role
You will work where catalysts, electrodes, membranes and coatings decide device performance. You will design experiments, read electrochemical and characterisation data critically, and tell clients what to test next and why.
What you will do
- Design and review experiments on catalysts, electrodes, membranes, coatings and interfaces.
- Interpret CV, RDE, impedance and accelerated stress test results.
- Trace degradation and failures to physical mechanisms using post-test characterisation.
- Judge whether half-cell results will hold at device level.
- Write up methods and findings so clients and partners can act on them.
In your first year
- Own the materials and diagnostics workstream on at least two client engagements.
- Build a reusable set of test and analysis protocols for the team.
- Deliver a failure analysis that changes a client's development plan.
What you bring
- PhD, or MSc with strong research experience, in electrochemistry, electrocatalysis or materials science.
- 3+ years of experimental work on electrochemical materials.
- Hands-on experience with electrochemical methods and characterisation such as SEM, XPS or XRD.
- A structured, evidence-first approach to experiments and data.
- Clear written English, including for non-specialist readers.
Nice to have
- PEM or AEM catalyst layers, or flow battery electrodes and membranes.
- Scale-up or manufacturing constraints for electrochemical materials.
- Data analysis in Python or MATLAB.
What Redionix offers
- Direct responsibility for technical work that informs real decisions.
- Variety across electrolyser, fuel cell, flow battery and materials programmes.
- A small team where the quality of your thinking counts more than hierarchy.
- Close work with the leadership team and with clients.
